Grade II Listed Building: Renovation Project

Our client wanted to convert this industrial - three stories-  building into a nice comfortable living space. The aim of the project was to keep intact the original features and the character of the building and at the same time to give a clean and fresh look.

The internal brick work, the timberand the steel beams have been repainted several times over the years andsome parts of the building had suffered from water penetration and steel corrosion.

The task

  • To strip the lime and paint of the brickwork
  • To strip the paint and the varnish of the timber beams and ceiling
  • To strip the paint and rust of the steel beams and pins

Gritco System was used throughout the project without using water or any hazardous chemicals.

Result

  • No damage to the face of the brick or to the pointing
  • The timber surface was left very smooth and fine; no cracks or scratches. Bicarbonate of Soda was used as a final treatment to preserve the wood.
  • The steel work came clean down to the metal ( Sa 2.5 grade) without pitting, leaving a smooth surface ready for re-painting

The project lasted 4 weeks.
